Vive le Tour de France!

Yesterday, we made the most of the Tour de France 2011 coming through Lavaur, Anne‘s town of residence, to go and have a bit of fun on one of the most popular sporting events in France.

In the morning, Anne and I went for a jog around Lavaur, running past the Tour de France circuit but also into the Lavaur countryside. All in all: 16,5 km in a bit under 2 hours – quite honorable I must say! And something that boosts our confidence for the semi-marathon of the Trail de l’Elan that we are hoping to enter at the end of August.

After a well-deserved pizza, we managed to negotiate bracelets to have access to a tribune that put us just after the finish line. Even with very strong rain, we stuck it out until the end to encourage the cyclists, notably  Mark Cavendish, our favorite (I wonder why…), who won the stage!

A very nice and out-of-the-ordinary 24 hours in Lavaur, in order to get a change of air, whilst also keeping focused on the London Marathon!
